Anonymous sender (wierd)

Both me and another friend received a text message the other day. We both didn't think much of it, but the sender line said "GOD" and had no phone number attached to it. We both looked in our phone book just in case we had a number listed under GOD but nothing (I don't remember setting anything under GOD anyway). So we both taught somebody was playing a prank on us, but how? How is it possible to send a txt message without a return number showing up. I replied with "Who is this" but got no answer. Then when I looked on my online account and saw a failed message sent to GOD (this was my reply). I'm very curious how somebody could do this. I even went online and tried to text from there with a phony name as a test, but I could tell its from online because the received message reveals a From address like "msgID2@v.w." I know this is kind of stupid but does anybody know how somebody could send a message like that. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

by the way the body of the message was "W A T C H S W A T!" and both phones were from Verizon.

I think W A T C H S W A T! is like a word puzzle. (sorry...i've been just watching to many forensic and sci fi movies.)

this could be a spam msg.. it is being kinda bothersome lately. if u recieve a msg from an email address don't open it... just delete it. also if u are not subscribed to any premium msg services then I would recomend having the premium msging blocked from your phone. keep in mind if u have the premium msging blocked u will have problems sending urself ringtones etc....

That's really trippy, somebody is obviously playing a prank on you and has extensive knowledge about cell phone manipulation!

You can type in who you want to send a text to and the body of the text...but you don't have to type in who or where it's coming from.

I sent a test one to myself and it's exactly what happened to you.

hey I tried it and it did work..hah..cool!!!. I cant believe verizonwireless is unsecured in this matter. I remember when cingular/sprint gave you this option on their site we'd do crazy stuff, anybody remember the old walmart hacking ringtones to motorola phones?
now to send messages you have to be logged in
