Phone Software updates

I am new to this great site, and love it already. For some this may be too simple a message to post, but it has come to my attention through various chats here and with friends that too many people do not know the necessity nor power of updating their phone's software... regularly!

It seems a lot of people update roaming capabilities and *228, and much to their chagrin, get no results. That is likely because you must go to the Verizon (or other company's) store, or to your phone manufacturer's website to download it.

What people also need to know is that Verizon often blocks or disables features in software updates.

Make sure you back up your current software before getting an update.

Also, I mentioned this in another post, but have found it useful and wanted to pass it along, and has more to do with managing your phone than the actual software.

My best girlfriend down in SC sent me this link over the weekend. It is a new company that has an interesting free service (and an upgraded, not-free service) that monitors your cell phone minutes and alerts you when you are about to go over- simple, but good idea!

I have tested it the last 6 weeks, and was pleasantly surprised! I am a talker and the free version alone has already saved me some Moolah.
