I seem to have better reception using Automatic a in stores, than I do with automatic b.

I am supposed to use Automatic b according to a map.

This depends on whether Verizon uses the "A side" or the "B side" of the signal in your region. To find out, try this:

1. Dial *22800. If you get Verizon OTA programming, they are using the "A side", so use Automatic A.

2. Dial *22801. If you get Verizon OTA programming, they are using the " B side", so use Automatic B.

If both work, then they are using both sides and you can safely choose whichever one you want.

Also, I'd be curious to know what map you were looking at.

I can not post the link yet, but look for the thread titled "Standard Scan vs Automatic A/B"

Scroll down to AgentHibby post. You will see the link.
