wierd restricted calls

Last night around 2 am shortly after I fell asleep I received three successive restricted calls (about 30-60 seconds apart). The first time I picked up, no answer. The second time I picked up, no answer. The third time I picked up and 5 seconds into my "hellooooo?s" someone replies. The person on the other end apparently is a friend of mine--he claims he also picked up a restricted call and heard me on the other end. As you can imagine it was a very confusing early morning conversation. Anybody have this happen to them? Or know what happened? I think it has to do with Verizon (my friend who was on the other end has verizon as well), as I've had other strange things happen (such as phone calls directed to my number being received on a relative's phone who is not even on the same plan or lives in the same state).

I got a few calls from a friend on her house phone that were restricted. I figured out it was because she has one of those privacy options so that her number won't show up on caller ID. So it's not Verizon's fault there. Ask your friend if he has that same privacy option. I don't know anything about the redirected calls though, that is weird.
