Weird VZW Voicemail Error

i don't know when this happened, but the past couple weeks when anyone tries to call my phone, it rings as normal, and if i answer, i talk to them, just as you normally do with a phone. but if i miss the call, it rings as normal, but does not go to my voicemail. instead, it goes to some error message saying: "Verizon Wireless, call could not be completed as dialed, please check the area code and dial again, announcement 5 (sounds like she says 'stitch' after she says 5, maybe she is saying 6 but it sure sounds like stitch.) 21-21" so basically she is saying "announcement five stitch two one dash two one."

this sucks because no one can leave me a voicemail. they can call me and the phone rings normally, but instead of going to my voicemail if i miss the call it goes to the error instead.

i tried calling my voicemail (speed dial 1 or *86). it didn't connect me to my voicemail. all i get is this beeping dial tone that never ends.

this is pretty weird and i've never experienced this error before nor have i heard of it happening to anyone else. does anyone know what this is, what is causing it, and/or how to fix it? THANKS!!

Most likely you have turned on call forwarding by accident. Dial *73 send on your phone. You wil hear 3 beeps. Then retest. Hope that helps.

i already fixed this the day on the day of my original post. it turns out that *73 fixed the issue. i found this out on howardforums.com, who replied to my posting right away. thanks for the help everyone but you just weren't fast enough! oh and ellen, i did call vzw, that was the first thing i tried. they tried reseting my voicemail but that didn't work. that's why i then looked to online forums for help.
