verizon and alltel phones

when will verizon customers will be able to buy alltel phones
or when will the alltel phones say verizon wireless on them

just my theory here that Verizon may eventually start locking down the Alltel phones the way that they do with their own.. This would not be a good thing at all.

This information wil not be out until the merger closes, its anyones guess right now.

The merger is expected to take place sometime before the end of 2008, however that is pending legal approval from the FCC and the Department of Justice, and to my knownledge neither agency has given the green right at this time. It will most likely happen in nov or dec.

from what i've heard it should happen after the first of the year. i used to be a midwest wireless subscriber and when alltel bought midwest out, we were able to pick from any phone that alltel had. so as soon as the merger is complete, you should be able to pick any phone that you want.
