This is a discussion on Download Ringtone(s) in the Verizon forum on Cell Phone Forums

Download Ringtone(s) I just joined cellphone forums and found out that I must have 5 posts to download a ringtone. I've never downloaded a ringtone. I've had one sent to my phone. I was interested in the ringtone from the movie "The Devil Wears Prada". One post specified the name of the file as an mp3 file.
Once I achieve 5 posts, how would I be able to transfer this file to my cell phone?
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Download Ringtone(s) Are you going to download the MP3 from somewhere on this website? Once you d/l the file to your PC, it's easy to copy it to the appropriate folder in your phone's file system with a USB data cable and two free software programs (Motorola Software Update, and P2kCommander [ver. 4.9.E]). If you need a USB cable for your phone, you can get one here:

Re: Download Ringtone(s)
Yes, I did find a post on this site that provided the MP3 file name but I couldn't access the attachment since I have < 5 posts. Thanks for the info about the cables and free software! This is new territory for me. I'm somewhat technical in other areas but not this one.
P.S. I had to remove the link in your reply. The system wouldn't accept it in my quoted response since it thought I was providing it. You need at least 20 posts to be able to provide a URL.

Re: Download Ringtone(s) You're right about having to remove the URLs in my post, but hang in there ... if you hang around this forum for a while, you'll hit your 20 posts in no time!
You should really download both Motorola Software Update and P2kCommander (ver 4.9.E) to your PC. Both are free - Google for them. Using those two applications along with a USB data cable will enable you to view the file system on your phone, and copy files such as ringtones and wallpaper graphics to the appropriate folders. You can also create free ringtones using a program like Audacity (a free audio editor program). Let us know if we can be of any help.

Re: Download Ringtone(s) If you can't find that ringtone on here, you might be able to find it on Amazon.com mp3 downloads. Once you have the song, do this:
If you are able to receive picture and video messages, this will work for you. Go to magix.com and download the free download of Magix Ringtone Maker 3. You can create any ringtone from any music you have. In Magix, click on "my music". Left click the song you want to use. When it starts to play, double left click the song and it will move down to the edit section. Edit to about a 30 second length. Once you have created a ringtone, at the bottom of the program click on "destination" and then "mp3 audio format". Click "export". A pop up window will show and click "ok". Close out Magix.
Now go to your e-mail and type in your number including area code@vzwpix.com. Attach the file and you should be fine. It will show up to your phone as a picture/audio message. Open the message and the ringtone will begin to play. Click "options" and then "save as ringtone". This is the way I do it with my LG env2. In fact, I have sent ringtones to many different phones on the Verizon network. I hope this helps

Re: Download Ringtone(s) Celljimian and Cellphonetech - Thanks. You've both been very helpful. I'm currently traveling and can't do anything right now. I'll also have to purchase a cable at some point. I'm trying to gather information on the subject to prepare myself for future downloads.

I find it pretty easy to load ringtones to my phone using my USB cable along with MSU and P2kC. However, I hadn't used the e-mail method for a while, so thought I'd try one that way. I was able to make a ringtone using Audacity, save it as an MP3, and e-mail it to my phone using the address <phone #>@vzwpix.com. My phone received the e-mail OK, and I was able to play the song, but under Options there was no "Save as ringtone," only "Save as sound" (which, of course, didn't work as a ringtone). Now I'm wondering if this might be another feature that Verizon has seen fit to block. Any input on this?
