my work phone (verizon) works but no display; can I buy one without resetting plan

i have a company phone that got wet and, came back to life mostly but has no display so is hard to use its something like a mobile landline. boss will not replace it as it isn't eligible yet. actually he has been 2 years on the plan but the phone is not yet eligible for new every 2. its only been about one year. I would like to buy a phone myself outright like on craigslist and have him put it on the company's plan but not disrupt our status as being beyond the 2 year contract requirement. has anyone seen this done?

sure you can do this. just make sure that the phone is for verizon.
