All confused over plans

Hey guys,

Ok so I have a Verizon Wireless Family Plan *Connect*. I currently have the LG Voyager but I've been looking into these Android phones coming out, do I need to change plans in order to purchase one of them? As far as I know I have unlimited data which sounds like all I would need... but Verizon always likes to make things difficult.

What's the difference between a Connect plan and a Smartphone plan?

This is what I hate about these wireless service providers - making this more complicated than they need to be. I would tell Verizon that you're ready for a new Android device upgrade (which, probably requires a contract renewal anyway - which they like/want), and to find you an all-you-can eat data/voice plan that is competitive with Sprint's Simply Everything Plan.

So in order to use a smartphone I would have to downgrade my plan from Connect and then add a data package onto it for essentially the same things but at a higher cost?
