Verizon lied to me

I called Verizon about my changing my son's texting plan and the girl I spoke with talked me into changing my family's America's Choice plan to the Nationwide Network plan. She said this would save me money, so I said OK. The bill came, it was more. My husband uses the web feature and every minute now costs per minute on that plan - which was $5/month before. They won't put the $5/month on the new plan so I'm SOL. I spoke with supervisor after supervisor and they refuse to switch me back.

I feel Verizon wants to get completely rid of these old plans, so they will say whatever to someone to get them to change. I have been a good customer with Verizon for at least 10 years. That girl lied right to me to get me to change and I was stupid enough to allow it. Now I feel violated and want to tell them to stick it. Is this a valid reason to avoid the cancellation fees? I have 2 phones that will be out of contract in 7/2010 and the other 2 phones not until 7/2011.

Re: Verizon lied to me

VZW does want to get rid of the old plans, they do not make them any money. The data is not being charged per minute, but per Kilobyte. My question would be what kind of phone does your Husband have? Then if it is not a smartphone he can add the 25 Megabyte plan to his phone for $9.99 per month (according to VZW's website). I also would call and get it escalated to another department, threatening to leave always helps if they are not cooperating.

Please tell us how this turns out,

Chris

Re: Verizon lied to me

Verizon tried to do something like this to me. I wanted a new phone, but they forgot to mention that I'd be getting a new service plan with it(I wanted it on my CURRENT plan, DUH, Verzion!)! I took the phone back and told them to shove it(the phone was tied to this new plan.. oh well). Everything worked out, back to my old phone and my old plan.

Re: Verizon lied to me

I spoke to everyone that I could - at least 3 supervisors. Not one would help. Then at the vendor fair at work, I complained to one of the salesmen, he just turned his back and smiled at someone else. I spoke very loud and asked him why he refused to help me. Undeterred, he continued to smile at passers by, so I left. Finally, after reading on here that they, by law, were supposed to send me a letter, explaining the change, and they never did, I told them I wanted that letter. That was almost 3 weeks ago and the letter hasn't arrived yet. I think I have a loop hole where they were supposed to send it to me in writing, allowing me 60 days to dispute the change, but they never did. As long as I don't get the letter, then they don't have to do anything. I guess they are just allowed to break the law in not sending it and they just really don't care.

The only thing my husband had was a $5.00 charge for reading his email and getting a few websites, like the weather and stuff. I forgot what it is called. It isn't a smart phone. It just makes me mad that they can do whatever they want and once you get your "free" phone, you are stuck for 2 years paying for it.
