Phone Switch?


I have a Motorola (CHEAP) wich i cant stand, and a friend sold me a BlackBerry Pearl-8130 for $50 bucks. Is there ANY WAY I could transfer my account over to the Pearl. I know i would not be able to use the data, but I like the texting. And the video camera. Please Help

I have managed before to get customer service to activate a phone that "requires" a data plan without one since I "owned" the equipment. If the ESN on the phone is good, then my best guess would be that you should be fine. Remember if a BlackBerry does not have data, it cannot send MMS (video and picture messaging).

I was considering getting a Blackberry, Verizon informed me that the data plan was required, so I decided against it. Who wants to browse the web on a tiny screen? Not me!

Be very careful if you do try and activate a Blackberry (or any other smartphone) that is put on to Verizon (or any carrier) without the data package. That is if there still is the loop hole of turning on a phone that was purchased online and not thru the carrier. I have heard that the CSR is NOT to add any Blackberry period that does not have a data package. But for some reason it does happen YOU are required to pay the bill, meaning that they DO NOT block the internet or the apps that use the data, and if you go to any app that requires data, you get charged the per minute rate and that can cause huge outragous bills to happen. In the past (before the requirements of having data on all smartphones) they would 'feel sorry' for the customer and take the charges off the bill, however now that the requirement is there, if the loop hole is used and a data package in NOT used, and a huge bill occurs, you WILL be stuck with it. This is why ALL carriers decided to push the requirement on all smartphones, to keep people in check and YES I know $30 is a lot of money per month, but it sure beats having $300 or even $1000. to pay on a months bill for using internet or apps that cause data usage.
