I had a Samsung Stratosphere for about a month and the screen stopped functioning. It had not been dropped, damaged, or wet.
I got a "certified refurbished replacement," and sent the old one back to Verizon, using their packaging. Then I got an e-mail back saying that the phone was damaged and that I would be charged $300 for the phone. It was not damaged when sent, and they said the box had no apparent issues, so I am presuming that they are making it up. But I can't really fight it; it is my word against theirs.
Lesson to the wise -- take a picture of your phone before sending it in.

Re: Verizon Warranty Problems -- BEWARE
I had the same problem, and I'm reading many others have as well. Each time it is not covered under warranty. I believe there is a problem with the design of this phone and that it can't stand up to normal use. My phones always exceed their contracts, but this one didn't make it 4 months.
