Phone got shut off, need help with options

Have a situation where four people in the family are on one plan. Turn out not everyones been kicking in their share and the phones got shut off. The bill at this point is most likely not going to be paid.

So with the phone I have is there any way I can somehow make it so I can get another plan or even provider for it ASAP so I dont run into this share plan problem again?

Or is my phone basically worthless now?

It's worthless until the bill is paid since the ESN is tied to the account, which has a balance. It will not be able to be activated on another account because of this.
