    Hello,
My wife and I are looking for our best option to cut expenses on our cell phone bill. We currently have two lines, no texting, no internet and no other BS. All we need to be able to do is make local and long distance calls. We never use more than 500 minutes combined. We are happy with Verizon coverage and call quality and would prefer to continue with Verizon. We have been out of contract for four years now and currently pay $76.00 per month total which includes all taxes, fees. etc.

Will simply asking to speak with customer retention and asking for a discount work or do they offer a plan that would reduce our expenses? I should also mention that we will not, under any circumstances, obligate ourselves to a "contract". Any and all advice appreciated.

You can try speaking with the cancellation department to see what they offer. You might be interested in Page Plus Cellular, which uses Verizon Wireless' network. You can probably save some money with them. You can also use many different Verizon Wireless phones on their service. It would be best to check with their customer service to confirm that your phones will work.
