I have never heard of Helio before. Can anyone give me a rundown as to whether or not this is a decent system or any of its positives?

Re: The Word on Helio?
I got my Ocean about 2 weeks ago from Hello Helio and I really love it. I got unlimited minutes, unlimited internet and text messaging. The sales people told me that Helio runs on the Sprint network, but has no ties to sprint. They also said that Helio is also owned by SK Telecom(sp?) the largest wireless company in the world aparently. All I know is the call quality is fantastic and the service is really good in the rural area I live in. Go 3G!
You can see the phones and plans at hellohelio.net, but I bought my ocean in an actual store and the store bought out my Verizon contract in order to switch to Helio.

Re: The Word on Helio?
the pricing is decent, I picked the 500 minute plan and since we have free nights and weekends I never run out. Usually my plan goes for about 86 a month but I have my discount still since my job use to have a partnership with them.

Re: The Word on Helio?
Helio runs on CDMA (The primary used carrier is Sprint)
#1)Sprint Service for data and voice - when one is not avalible it will roam on another CDMA Carrier like Verizon or US Cellular and so on.
#2) Where do you live ? - Check the coverage map, but if you have sprint of verizon in your are - It Works!
#3) Helio does not have repair centers(Service Centers) so, i you need this phone for business and something happens prepare to wait 2 or more business days for a replace through the insurance company.
You must get the $7 insurance / or buy a back up device through another channel in anticipation that you will run into a problem with your phone.
#4) Over all the devices are very good unlike the other carriers they only offer a few products but every one of there phones are highly rated.
You don't pay for roaming so go for it!
**If your a business professional and need specific work applications Helio is not recommended**

Re: The Word on Helio?
Helio is da bomb. Ive had it for a year and a half. Get the Helio Ocean, its user friendly. You can check all of your emails, text, gps, watch you tube videos and more. They lease Sprint towes and have now reached a partnership roaming agreeement with Verizon. So , their coverage is sweet. Their customer service is good, even though sometimes is hard to understand their philippino outsource people. You will be very satisfied with helio.

Re: The Word on Helio?
Helio doesn't have an official service center but there a independent Helio repair companies like portatronics.com. I had a cracked screen on my Ocean which was not covered under any warranty because i broke it. I like Helio but now that they've been bought the only corporate shop in NYC disappeared and I wish they'd help people more with follow up problems.

Re: The Word on Helio?
Ive been a Helio Authorized Dealer for a few years now. You are welcome to visit my website heliobyvirgin, com
I ve been a dealer in the past 11 years for all of them (sprint, verizon, metropcs, etc..) and decided to drop all and stuck with Helio. Their service is excellent. We tower of Sprint Network and part Verizon. So coverage is not an issue. The value that you get for your dollars is excellent. The ALL IN PLANS pretty much include everything (unlimited international text, web, google gps, buddy beacon and more). The only downside that I must admit that we have is , that we only carry 5 devices , but they are pretty good quality. The Ocean 2 is to launch in Jan. 09. It was supposed to launch last summer, but the helio virgin merger delayed everything.
If you are into data, Helio is definetely the way to go. If you are just concerned about cell/voice usage, then its not for you.
