A) Switch from Virgin Mobile's prepaid, CDMA (non SIM Card/GSM) service and hardware, to a new prepaid account with a major service provider under GSM, such as T-Mobile?
B) Purchase an unlocked phone and SIM Card for the new account?
C) Keep the same number from the old Virgin Mobile account to the new account?

Re: Switching from Virgin Mobile and CDMA
So a lot of service providers have hardware that is specifically designed for prepaid. Does it matter if, for example, I get a prepaid account and SIM Card from Cingular, whether I have to use that SIM Card in a GoPhone, or can I use that prepaid account and SIM Card in any (unlocked) GSM device?

A word to the wise though, make sure you will have good coverage at home first, so you don't buy the new phone and not get to use it.....
