Maybe I'm missing something, here. Why spend the kind of money they're
getting for an iPhone just for overly small internet screen, usable
only when you have WiFi available, & a portable music player? Or is
the toy aspect of the iPhone so "wonderful" that a usable phone is
unnecessary?

If memory serves, certain people would spend $20 for a paste-on cell
antenna so they could look cool. These are same people who now spend
$$$ to pimp their bling cars with bling sound systems while wearing
bling jewelry, and now bling phones. There are enough of these idiots
to keep the scammers happy, and the rest of us laughing into next week.

Seems like an iPhone is great to have when stormy weather knocks down
power lines to your home. You'd still be able to send email.

That description sounds just like my 8525, either standalone or
tethered to my laptop. And, in the case of either phone, it'd depend
on the state of the battery.

Yes. Just like I did seven years ago tethering a Casiopeia E-115 to a
Nokia 7160 via IR.
Hope you weren't waiting all these years for an iPhone just to have e-
mail when the power goes out!

Oh, which other phone has a 3 1/2 inch screen? , let alone
one that isnt scratchable plastic.

If the screen is the only thing you can point to, you prove my point. It is
no more effective at the task than any other phone.
Thanks for playing- now you go back to creating your latest conspiracy
theory.

I'll assume you had a lemon. Mine works quite well. And the
pda/minicomputer aspect is as good as others I've used. Once there's a
complete upgrade to WM6 available, that's needed to fix some WM5
shortcomings. Otherwise, the spb tweaks, pocket e-sword & agendus were
all I really needed to add -- there don't really seem to be ANY really
good WM browsers.

To be honest, when I first got my 8525 it was clunky, but not terriable,
since the latest firmware was installed, it has improved dramatically, I
myself, prefer it over the iphone. I have no problems with those who think
otheriwse, they are aimed at different markets, but an 8525 without buying
on contract, is the same price as an iphone.

I can get an N800 with a bigger screen, run it off a decent and cheap
Samsung Sync on hsdpa and do skype and other things. or as in an iphone,
use it off wifi, and guess what, I can add programs, chat on the irc, surf
the net and its a little over half the price of an iphone and don't need a
contract extentsion.

You easily make up the difference on the data plan.
