yep! basically, anything people still want will appear on the iPhone in
10 Days! Things like Video Recording, MMS, TV Remotes, Garage Door
Openers, Bar Code Scanning are all coming to the iPhone.
It's going to freak a lot of the competitors out since they can't have
easy app installation like the iPhone has. 4,000 apps by the touch of a
finger, sweet...

i don't think anyone ever "preferred" microsoft products, it was more
"they had little choice".

Yeah- they just build phones that need the Apple workarounds. How dare
they?

the smartphone market is just emerging, all other cell phones will end
up like the sony walkman, just watch what apple will do to this poorly
performing market. all the competitors are extremely weak, apple will
shred them...

what? 3G still sucks the life out of your battery for no real gain since
most people will use WiFi 90% of the time. The exciting thing about july
11th is the App Store not the 3G phone.

I was never prove wrong, WiFi is more open and free now more than ever,
just as I predicted.

nah, I'll never be a fanboy, just a proponent of "quality" products no
matter what the brand.

Oxford, anybody who is as evangelical about a phone as you are and is
not employed by its manufacturer is, by definition, a fanboy. We are
all thrilled that you are a happy apple customer and loyal to their
product du jour, but haven't you gotten the message from these posts
that many disagree? And if we/they do disagree, why do you care? Again,
only a company employee or a fanboy would care - and even a company
employee would appreciate that it takes a wide variety of products to
serve any given market - ONLY a fanboy would be so arrogant as to think
that the whole world. Apple is a bit unique in thinking their way is
the only way but perhaps - just perhaps - that's why they maintain their
low single digit market share.

AT&T, then SBC and previously Ohio Bell/Ameritech, screwed me over on
DSL and dialtone a few years ago, requiring me to file a complaint
with the Ohio PUC before they'd refund $200 in charges on broken phone
and DSL service that they failed to fix for two months. Or at least
they tried. They did not succeed - the PUC saw to that.
As a result, Satan will be selling Sno-Cones in Hell before I spend another
penny on anything they offer.
So, I really don't care what they're selling. I'm not buying.

And if your gripe is with AT&T, why did you post to all the other cell
phone groups?
And your follow-up tag is set to the Verizon newsgroup? Dumb.

I think you have it wrong. It's partially their tyrannical attitude that
prevents them from gaining market share. Possibly, if they lost the
attitude, the tyranny, and the smarmy little piss ants like Oxford and
company, they'd do much better

actually, it's that tyrannical drive for perfection which produces such
fine products. customers love perfect products and that's why the ipod
holds 70% of the music player market, and why 57% of Japanese smartphone
shoppers want an iPhone.
http://techon.nikkeibp.co.jp/english...02/154237/?P=1
the only people that don't like the zeal towards "perfection" are
competitors... isn't that interesting.

Apple is FAR from perfection. They couldn't even repair an iPOD that was
returned to them 3 times under warranty because they couldn't understand
or wouldn't admit what the problem was (fairly simple, it wouldn't hold
a charge). That was my one and only horrific experience with Apple. I
wouldn't DARE try again. Believe it or not fanboy, other manufacturers
make damn good products that are easy to use and reliable and, if
customer service IS needed, they actually fix the problem right the
first time! Example, the Delete key fell off my Sony laptop's keyboard.
I brought into Sony's repair depot and they fitted it with a whole new
keyboard and had me on my way in under 30 minutes. Try that with an
Apple!

Met a great FruitFone owner this morning over breakfast. A friend met
me and I booted Xournal on the N800 Linux Tablet to make a schematic
drawing for him to build something when he got home. It's a shunt
regulator to keep his solar panels from boiling away the electrolyte in
his battery banks.
Anyway, I noticed this younger guy at the next table watching me drawing
away with my stylus on Xournal and making notes on it with the onscreen
stylus keyboard because noone can read my handwriting except some
Egyptologists at major universities.
Finally, he couldn't stand it any more as I was emailing the drawings to
my friend's home computer over my BT DUN on Alltel data link. "What do
you call that?", he asked, pointing to the tablet. "I've never seen
anything like that. I have an iPhone.", he proudly proclaimed.
After a short, but very informative mini-presentation of the N800, he
wanted to know where to get one and was astonished that all the software
I had shown him was freeware from some Linux hackers at maemo.org....(c;
Note to buy.com - I WANT COMMISSIONS ON MY ORDERS!!
Another convertee. I gave him my email addy to help him set it up when
it gets here like I've done for many others. Buy me breakfast and I'll
