Business Networks + iPhone = Podcast Boom
Monday, July 28th, 2008 at 3:20 PM - by John Martellaro

One of the world's most connected people on LinkedIn, Stan Relihan,
believes that the iPhone will drive podcasts like never before,
especially in business, to the benefit of everyone, according to
ITWire on Monday.
http://www.itwire.com/content/view/19686/1023/
"The new media and in particular Podcasts are high on people's agendas
as one of the new technologies that people are discovering. And that's
not surprising given the fact that now the iPhone has been launched,"
said headhunter Stan Relihan. He's ranked #40 of the most connected
people on LinkedIn.
Mr. Relihan believes that the podcast is about using social networking
for business benefit. While the podcasting phenomenon was launched by
the Apple iPod, the expansion of the iPod featured to the iPhone,
especially amongst businessmen, will lead to an explosion of
popularity.
"It's all very well to have fun and make friends but unless there's a
business value add, what's the point?" Mr. Relihan asked. "It's not
just about LinkedIn because I've talked to people who have used
LinkedIn and other social networks to ask where's the business benefit
that you've received from this? It's all about how do we use the
Internet to create a business benefit."
For example, of his 16,000 LinkedIn connections, he gets 12,000
downloads of his semimonthly podcast The Connections Show. In his last
podcast, the social networking guru used his network to assist with
selling his new book.
Mr. Relihan believes that putting the iPhone in the hands of senior
executives will allow them to communicate, podcast, and develop
business liaisons like never before.
Others have noticed this trend. This time around, the IT managers may
not have the same sway as they did with the Macs. A chief executive
with an iPhone in his hand is an irresistible force for a normally
immovable IT staff.

I wonder how much of the stockholder's equity Apple is wasting bribing
these guys to write this ****...??
There are a million Iphones on the street across the planet.....ONLY a
million. Of those, I'd bet less than 5% are "amoungst businessmen",
because iPhone doesn't do basic business things like Blackberries or WinMo
phones, notibly Palms I see most of them carrying. Hell, it can't even cut
and paste simple text and has no keyboard suitable for simple word
processing!
I give business people lots more credit than standing in line to buy the
latest glitzy toy. Business people use WinXP at the office for a reason.
it's CHEAP and it WORKS. Apple never grasp this concept and never will.
Can you imagine business messaging all day on that ****ty little finger
keyboard where you can't even see what you typed a minute ago? How stupid!
Business people waste their whole day, on commission, podcasting from
CBS....don't they? Doesn't that sell product and solve problems?
How much money did Relihan get? THAT would be interesting.

Apple Stores no longer sell iPhones to businesses so there should be
no businessman is waiting in line at any Apple store. If he is waiting
he is going to mightily pissed when someone finally talks to him.
All US business sales and discounted sales MUST go through AT&T and
their business reps. Currently there is up to a 21 day delay before
AT&T will deliver a new batch of iPhones to your business after the
contract is signed. There just isn't enough stock to go around.

What great business support. They're delivering them to the drooling
teenagers, but screw ATT profitable business customers......
Is it any wonder they're on Nextel or Verizon?
