There's been a lot of talk about Walmart getting the iPhone 3G some time
in the coming months, but do Walmart shoppers really want an expensive
handset like the iPhone when they can walk a few feet and get a GoPhone
for $15? Gene Munster says yes, to the tune of 4.5 million units, if
they chose to do so.

He says that the 4.5 million mark in 2009 is "achievable" if the iPhone
3G appears at all 3,500 of Walmart's locations across the U.S. That's a
lot of iPhone sales, especially given that he expects the 208 Apple
Stores to sell the same amount in the same period.

We do not believe that Street numbers accurately reflect the potential
impact from Walmart stores on iPhone sales
in 2009, Munster told investors.

He also still maintains his belief that there will be 45 million iPhones
sold next year.
