Stories of dropped calls will emerge eventually as the "death grip"
issues rears its ugly head :-) :-) :-)

One has to consider however where the iphone is being sold the most iin
the first couple of days. If the stocks have been made available only in
cities with goo coverage and with few units shopped to areas with
questionable coverage, then the early statistics will show fewer dropped
calls because the iphoe will mostly be used in good areas.

I think there should be a period of a number of months before on can
pass judgement on it. Perhaps 6 or 12 months. It is quite likely that
VZ will come out better, but one still need to be objective about it.

"Death Grip" ... that's old news, even on the new Verizon iPhone. Now
there's a "Death Hug", although I couldn't be bothered even reading what
this latest idiocy this is supposedly about.
"I encased my iPhone in a sealed lead box, covered it in 10 tons of
    concrete
and then flew it into the Sun ... why can't I get a signal?" :-\

Are you sure? I checked my filter log and there is nothing there from
him. He seems to have taken a break from his misinformation campaign.

For the first week, the Verizon iPhone was sold only via online order.
Well, not quite. The initial stock sold out the first day. Nevertheless,
there were no additional sales for the rest of the week. So there could
be no selective stocking by area.

Then again, they were available only to existing Verizon customers. So
one could argue that the phones were already sold to places where people
    like Verizon.

Whatever. I got mine, and it works great!

Objective? Not likely. How many people do you know who have both Verizon
and AT&T phones? I don't know any. Simply having one or the other
produces a bias of sorts. Certainly no one can be objective about the
    experience.

But then I am particularly biased. I waited years to get my first iPhone
because my previous experience with AT&T (in my area) made me switch to
Verizon and refuse to switch back -- even for an iPhone.

    YMMV.
