This was from a friend - looking for options for his daughter.
I was always confused on the buying and using a local SIM card,
since I don't know what the ATT iPhone stores on the card,
and what is still on the phone, and what resides on the SIM.
ie - if you remove your domestic ATT SIM card,
and replace it with a locally purchsed card for local service,
then what happens to all the lost data on your old SIM ?
I mean, your contacts, info, apps, etc -
SO - what are some options for this scenario below ???
---------------------
My daughter has an iPhone 4 with AT&T service.
She will be in Spain for about 4 or 5 months (semester abroad)
and wants to use her iPhone,
but I don't want to pay the $1.09 per minute charge.
Is there a way to use her iPhone there.
Maybe it's as simple as buying a new SIM card
and getting Spanish service that supports the iPhone 4.

everything is stored on the iphone but you will need to jailbreak and
unlock it which may not be possible, depending what firmware and
baseband it has.
