    Hi all,

Just picked up the x427 the other day and love it. Signed up for a 1 year
contract. Thing is that my mother wants a cell phone now too. I was thinking
of signing up for one of the family plans and picking up the S307. My
question is this: as we sign up for the family plan, can they give my phone
(x427) to my mother, and hook me up with the S307 while I keep the same
number that I have right now on the x427? Hope its not too confusing. Any
    help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Now that number portability is in effect, there should be no problem using
any current cell phone number for any other cell phone. Cingular might
require a new contract to do it, but this shouldn't be a problem as you just
signed a contract, so you're really not out anything. (you're new contract
will start shortly after your current contract started, so length of
committment will be roughly the same, I would imagine, unless they require 2
    years for the family plan).

BTW, if the price is the same (and if your store offers it) you might want
to consider the Motorola T720, also. This is the phone we used to replace
our land line. We LOVE it. -Dave

Shouldnt be a problem at all... all you need to do is just pick up the
extra line, then just swap SIM cards..... (make sure you power cycle
the phones after the swap so they reregister with the network) can
hurt to call cingular and have them change the IMEI on the lines
    afterwards too

If you can swap the SIM cards, then there is probably no problem doing what
you want. I have four x427 phones. One had a bad antenna circuit in it and
I swapped the card with another phone. The phone number, address book (if
saved to the card), etc. went with the sim card to the replacement phone.
I'm just not sure if the 307 and 427 will do this. I bet they will since
they are from the same manufacturer.

Anything saved to the SIM will migrate to the new phone. I moved my
    SIM from a 6340i to a S/E T316 (bad move there, but that's another
story) and everything I had saved swapped over just fine. Just be sure
to check that it's saved to SIM, since most phones save to phone
    memory by default.
