According to your plan and coverage maps, any phone calls you make with your
cell phone from Las Vegas will be roaming, and thus wicked expensive. Even
if you call a number IN Las Vegas, you will be roaming. If someone wants to
call you, they will use your TULSA area code (918?) to call you. The phone
call will probably reach you in Las Vegas. HOWEVER, even for INcoming
calls, you will be charged roaming fees.
You can upgrade to a NATION plan for no roaming charges in Las Vegas. Or,
you can pick up a pre-paid calling card at wal-mart and use that to make
long-distance calls from the landline in your motel room. If you don't
choose option one, I'd recommend you leave the cell phone in Tulsa, OR just
carry it for emergency use. -Dave

Using cell phone out of my region
I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and will soon be traveling to Las Vegas, NV
for a vacation. I am on the Region Family Talk plan through
Cingular. My questions are:
When I am outside of my region, such as in Las Vegas, is me calling
back to Oklahoma considered a roaming charge type call? I assume that
is the 79 cent per minute charge. How about when I call someone else
who is also in Las Vegas at the time, is that considered a regular
call or is that roaming too?
Finally, if someone wants to call me from Oklahoma while I am in Las
Vegas, do they need to use my Tulsa area code (918) or the one in Las
Vegas to reach me at my cell phone?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Re: Using cell phone out of my region
If you are outside of your calling area, it doesn't matter who or where
you're calling, it's charged as roaming.
People will use your 918 area code to reach you..
Hope this helps....

All of your calls will incure roaming charges if that is how your plan is set
up. From OK, to OK, checking VoiceMail and so on.
Yes, your number doesn't change whether the person calling you in in Las Cegas
of OKie City, they dial your whole number using you 918 area code.

Yes. You will likely pay long distance charges as well.

That is roaming too.

Is your mobile with a 918 area code? If it is they'll dial your
number as they always have either 7 digits (if that's still allowed in
your area) or 10 or 11 digits if it's toll to call your number from
where they are. You will also pay roaming to receive the call in Las
Vegas plus the cost of delivering the call to you from Oklahoma where
the call originated.
