Re: What frequency gsm is cingular on in houston?

Depends on where you are at:

    http://www.mountainwireless.com/txcellmaps.htm

    A or B refers to 850-Mhz .
From what I see, they mostly use the 850Mhz spectrum in TX.

Cingular has only an 800mhz license for Houston.

I bought a v70 from ebay and it is always saying "cingular Extend". I am in
Houston. Does this charge me in any way other than normal minutes?

On a national plan yes, on a local plan no.

Philly, you got it backwards. On a National plan there is no additional
charge with the correct IRDB in the v70, but as this is a 1900mhz-only GSM
phone-Cingular only has 800mhz spectrum in Houston he will always be roaming
(probably on T-Mobile). With a local plan there could be an additional
    charge.
