I have, what I consider to be, one of the best rate plans ever offered. For
$30 I get Nationwide from anywhere to anywhere, 250/3500. It was offered 2
or 3 years ago I think. At some point after getting the plan (I was by that
time month to month) I upgraded my phone and signed a 2 year contract -
specifically so that I could keep the plan. I have one year left on the
current contract.
So my question is - when this next year is up - will I be able to keep my
plan or will Cingular pull the plug.
One other question - I really hate my 6340i. I loved my Motorola flip
phone. If I can keep this plan past the current contract - are there any
phone in the offing that are better than the 6340i or the one other phone
that is offered?
Thanks

I have the same plan; it's the old Nation plan. Where there's signal,
there's service at local rates. No roaming whatsoever, no long
distance. Mine is 500 minutes anytime, and with discounts I pay $40
plus fees and taxes ($50 without discounts).
My contract expired last October, and I'm still on that plan with no
problem. I don't think you'll have any issues. They keep you on the
plan until you move from it. They *might* at some point insist on a new
phone, I don't know.
But I can get a better plan now, the Nation GAIT plan with rollover.
It's a couple bucks more, but I get the rollover minutes. Plus
nights/weekends move from 3500 to 5000 minutes (like it matters).
Unfortunately, they don't offer much for lower end users.
I haven't moved off of my plan because it would mean changing phones,
and I don't want to change phones. I'll wait until either my minute
usage goes way up, or they make me change phones.

Why would they make you change phones?

They've done that to their customers one time in the past that I know
of, in order to migrate their systems to newer technologies.
I'm sure it's not going to happen very often, or without much
forethought on Cingular's part--but it has happened. I presume it could
happen again.

This is sure to start a controversy... I have the same plan but in one week
when my contract is up, I'm switching to Verizon. They have better coverage
in their national plan for about the same bucks and they have many more
phones to choose from.
IMO!
