Well swbell called me and said since I was a customer
with them I could get 300 anytime and free nights and weekend
for $26 a month.
Sounded good but when I asked about coverage areas and
roaming they didn't have a clue.
I asked for a map that showed the coverage in my state (arkansas)
sure they cover the whole state...BS
no please show me where I can expect coverage, not where you
think there might be coverage.
they could not.
then I asked about this plan,,,like sprint...call from anywhere to
anywhere.....just normal minutes...
well some plans do that..
this one?
some plans....not an answer
how can I find out my REAL coverage area in my state, and if
there are hidden charges if I am in LA and want to call to NY or back
home.
thanks big time for any and all help
I few friends had cingular in this area 1-2 yrs ago and coverage was
not that great. (they all switched to sprint)
thanks again

Re: offer from cingular/swbell....good?
Look at their web site.
I have found their maps to be relatively accurate.
I haven't caught them bragging about
any significant coverage that they don't have.
Roaming will depend on your plan.
You can get nation wide, no extra cost plan,
but you will get less total minutes than the
regional plans.
Above all, look at the web site!!!!!

Re: offer from cingular/swbell....good?
I think that the offer from Bell South sounds good.
I'm in California and SBC gives me a 10% discount on all plans that Cingular
offers plus I get free FastForward. In order to get the discount I have to
have SBC combined billing. Actually, I'd rather just get one bill a
month.
When I want to change my Cingular plan, I just call Cingular. The
difference is that I get my Cingular billing combined with by SBC bill.
SBC and Bell South own Cingular together and they probably offer the same
deal. This maybe a new program in your area so the Bell South rep may not
know all the answers -- read their website or the info they send you.

The 10% off deal is a SCAM. The rate plans you can select from are 10% more
expensive than the rate plans available to anyone who walks in off the street.

Re: offer from cingular/swbell....good?
Not True. I check my bill carefully every month and, so far, SBC has been
great about giving me the 10% discount as promised. The 10% discount is off
the regular price available to Cingular customer without combined billing.
Actually when I combined my SBC and Cingular bills, they just took the
Cingular plan I was on and applied 10% discount.
I also get FastForward (normally $2.99) for free.
It took SBC two billing cycles to get my SBC and Cingular bills combined
onto one, but so far, I'm very satisfied. I also added another phone to my
account and they waived the $36 activation fee.
I think that the wave of future telecom services is through bundling of
DSL/Cable, Local, Long Distance, Wireless, and Cable/Satellite. That works
fine for me.
