Hello. My contract with Cingular has just expired. I was considering
switching because I am in the TDMA market. Anyway, I don't know if I
really want to do that right now or if that is the best option at all
for me right now. Will I get a letter at the end of the month asking
me to sign another contract, or now that I have fulfilled my 2-year
commitment, will I be able to stay with Cingular as long as I feel
like it without making another commitment?

    thanks,

    DL

I've been with Cingular now for over three plus years,
don't recall when my contract intially expired but
from time to time they will call you offering upgrades
and such. I avoid the offers as I decided to upgrade
my phone only to recieve a pathetically small Nokia
with horrible small buttons. If I do re opt at some point
I'll go back to the store, and select a phone I have an idea
will be suitable. In any event to my knowledge no
requirement to re opt after your intial agreement.

Unless you upgrade or take some promotional offer, they shouldn't ask you to
re-up your contract unless something has changed very very recently.

That's if he wants to pay for a GSM phone. These phones are free or
substantially discounted when you sign a contract.

Also, I'm not sure if moving over to a GSM service will require a new
contract or not, since the OP will need to change his service plan.
