Hi... Does anyone know if there is a way I can use my regular fax
machine through my cellphone? I have gotten rid of my landline at my
home and this is the only thing I miss.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Regular landline FAX programs
wait for a dial-tone. There are
    some FAX programs which can
enable you to use a cell-phone.
    Smith-Micro sells one. Win-Fax
is another. It's possible with the
    right software. Luck

    Re: Fax by cellphone?

Some cell phone data kits have fax software-phone intregration program(s).

My Startac 7868 came with a program that will accept faxes via Cellphone.
It's a fax program that runs on the computer that listens for faxes.

Works good for me the couple times I have used it.

The other alterniative, is to look for a fax forwarding service.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but I should clarify that the software came
    with the data kit/cable..

    Re: Fax by cellphone?

My Motorola Startac7868's data kit can do via 14.4kbps digital as well as
    analog.
Not that you want to go out and buy an older phone, just saying it's
possible with another type of phone.

My old Nokia 6190 will do it as well with data kit, @ 9600bps

But the 7868 (and the digital Microtac's before that) were kicked into
analog mode by the software before the connection completed. You could
actually see the "D" go away.

To a PC serial port, right? NOT an analog phone jack! (Everyone
seems to have missed the OP's actual question- he wants to hook a fax
MACHINE to his phone- not send/receive faxes from a PC!)

Again, it can do digital data to/from a COMPUTER at 9600bps. My old
analog Nokia could actually accept an RJ-11 phone jack via it's fax
interface, which in my case was necessary for use with a credit card
    terminal's built-in 2400bps analog modem.
