Dropped calls last 2 weeks?

I have a nokia 6340i and Cingular's $29.95 plan (FWIW). I've had their plan
for the past 3 months with nothing but success. Except the last two weeks
have been nightmarish with dropped calls.

My sister-in-law visited us this morning. She has the exact phone and plan
so I took her phone and ours and held them side by side while looking at the
signal bars. I kept switching hands to see if that mattered. I saw no
substantial difference, except the phone in my left hand usually had more
bars (perhaps my wedding band helped?).

Is there something going on with Cingular during this time period? We live
in southern Arkansas.

It could be the upgrade to EDGE if my timelines are correct from what I can
gather on the 'net...
