AT&T Wireless is being more blatant in its lies, and "everyone does it"
    is hardly a valid excuse.

    Re: ATT Wireless caught lying

I'm certainly not an ATT apologist... have no interest in them. Perhaps
I'm an apoligist for ALL business and the capitalist system if
describing the facts of life makes me such by your definition.
So OK, let's agree that the website is "a lie." Please answer the
question I put to you earlier: where's the harm? Your answer that
there's "none to... an apoligist" is a non answer so I'll rephrase:
Where is the harm to anyone other than an ATT apologist or to you
    specifically?

Another ONE LINE REPLY, please robert how do you feel that ATTWS is LIEING?
all the prices quoted there specify they are for a NEW one or two year
contract, none of those prices apply to a current customer on a contract..
Please understand that, and than if you still have a problem with them
'lieing' tell us what the heck they are lieing about

ATTWireless still says web only on their sales, and Scott Stephenson
insists they will be matched at the stores. You can't have it both ways.

Show me a retail ad that advertises the prices mentioned on the web. If you
can't (which is the case), then the prices are only advertised on the
    website.

Why the hell do you care anyway? You ported from Sprint to ATT and back to
Sprint- you aren't even an AT&T customer.

Hey x- if you want to see the troll at his finest, head over to the Sprint
PCS newsgroup. He sounds even more like a whiney little girl over there.

Ok. Let's assume you are absolutely correct. AT&T lies on their website.
So now answer the queston: How does this affect you or other consumers?
You've been careful to avoid answering these questions so shall we
assume that it makes no difference to you or anyone else? If so, what is
    your point?

    DUH..

If one thinks one is getting an exclusive deal via the web, one may buy
a phone they haven't laid hands on, which is disadvantageous to going to
the store and checking them all out. The web requires signing up for
automatic payments, which with AT&TWS squirrely billing is a no-no.

Where on the website does it prohibit a customer from practicing due
diligence and doing some research? And as for the automatic payments, you
have already shown your complete ignorance on the workings of this type of
program in the Sprint PCS group.

    Re: ATT Wireless caught lying

Like I said before, Caveat Emptor. Nothing on their website precludes,
prevents or dissuades a consumer from shopping at a store to compare
deals or just going to the store to lay hands on a phone before going
home and ordering online. Also, nothing on the website says that the
"web exclusive" deal is _better_ than a deal that might be available at
a store. It simply says it's exclusive - NOT Better or Best.
You are correct that people may not avail themselves of researching all
options. Those people are doing themselves a disservice and should learn
to be responsible shoppers - if they care to.
I also asked how YOU are or were affected by the supposed marketing
practice - were you somehow fooled or duped by the "web exclusive" claim
and if so how and what did it cost you?

True, except they could be misled by the web page saying Web Exclusive.

In December I went to a store and was firmly told they did not match web
prices. At least one poster says things have changed.

    HOW IS THIS MISLEADING?!?!?!?!?

It is a Exclusive offer on the WEBSITE, They are offering something that you
cant go to the store and find there on sale, but yet if you look on the
website and see the price and than goto the store and see it for a different
price, and want to actually have the service, and arent a complete ignorant
person, you will get it for the web price.

And how do you figure you need to have automatic billing? That is totally
    untrue..
