No sir, you are the troll.

Now answer us this. How does AT&T Wireless still post (as of March 30,
2004 even) that its web sales are "Exclusive Online Deals" if the stores
will match them (and I admit they sometimes do).

AT&T Wireless is lying then aren't they?

If you had bothered to read, that phrase is used to indicate additional
minutes, waived activation fee, instant rebates, and free shipping. It says
    nothing about the phone price.

Based on what I just said, no they're not.

Yes but other posters have said they got that matched and MORE at
stores. One poster got 7 PM nights for free.

So they matched the phone price and threw in something else to seal the
deal. So they more than met their obligation. The problem with this
    is....?

Its no longer exclusive to the web. So if AT&T Wireless sys its
exclusive to the Web, and its not, then there's an issue. Which you
somehow in your willingness to accept whatever a corporation says, won't
    see.

Doesn't say anything about 7pm nights on the web. The poster got the phone
for the web price and 7pm nights. Didn't say anything about waived
activation fee, bonus anytime minutes, or instant rebates. Those are the
parts that are exclusive to the web, which has already been pointed out to
you. Is the tin foil starting to rub against your ears?

The web also says the free Nokia 6800 "ONLINE ONLY", yet as we both
agree (although differ in how automatically) stores wil match.

So The web is lying. It is NOT ONLINE ONLY.

There is no surcharge for Early Evenings. The only stipulation is that you
be on a $59.99 plan or higher.

The poster got it with a lower priced plan at a store.

When they say a deal is exclusive to the web they are NOT guaranteeing
that the web deal is better than a store or that it won't be matched.
They are only saying that the deal is only being offered publicly on the
web. If you walk into the store they will offer you something
different - maybe better, maybe worse - but nonetheless different. If
you want the web deal they can match it or beat it if they want to.
Exactly how is a consumer hurt by this? Buying a cell phone and service
has become like buying a car, you have to negotiate to get the deal
that's best for you. Nothing wrong with that!

IF THEY WANT TO? What sort of business does that? Getting a cell phone
is now like negotiating the price of a car?

    "IF THEY WANT TO?"
    YES.
"What sort of business does that?"
The kind that wants to close deals and improve sales while the
customer's wallet is in the store.
"Getting a cell phone is now like negotiating the price of a car?"
Yes it is. And just like a car dealership the manager on duty can
make whatever deal he wants. But then so is buying appliances at Sears.
Most people don't know it but you can negotiate on appliances at Sears
and get a reduced price and/or free delivery or free extended
warranties. I have never paid the posted retail price for appliances at
Sears. In fact, one can negotiate for all kinds of deals on all kinds of
things particularly where there is a lot of competion to compare.
A cellphone contract is worth $500-$1200 in revenue over the 1 or 2
year contract period. As an asset value to the company it's worth two to
three times that. If you're willing to pay the price posted on the wall
or in the brochure that's fine, but if you ask for more and cite that
the competition has a better deal it's up to them entice you to buy
before they lose you to the competition.
What makes you think that a business is or should be locked in to
offering only a set rate or package to all customers?

That doesnt change the fact that the web site lies.

    72 Hour Sale Online Only

If stores will match it, then its not online only, and the web is lying.

Honesty. The web says: ONLINE ONLY

OK, so what's the point? The offer is made only online but the store
might match if asked. So where's the harm? ALL advertising is full of
lies - it's not right but that's life. Caveat Emptor!
