As I said, I just bought the phone with Cingular Nation plan and am
getting lots missed calls. I used ATTWireless before and it was
better than this, at least no missed calls in NYC, unless it's a phone
issue with my Moto V400. Anyone know if Cingular allows its users to
    switch to ATTWireless?

See More: Since Cingular bought ATTWireless, can I switch to ATTWireless?

what would be the point? you would be switching from cingular to
cingular and the issues would still be there, cingular is
incompetent... cingular could screw up a 2 tin can and a string
    network.

No they don't, the purchase hasn't gone through yet.

That's pretty accurate. I'm an ATT customer and my phone switches pretty
freely to Cingular in my home market. It never did this before last week.

I travel from Albany to NYC and the phone changes over just fine from
Cingular to AT&T with no problem, coverage in NYC is better, why who
knows, I have been also to Florida, and NewOrleans and not had a
problem only recently have I been getting missed calls, and voice
mail is not working, and I have the V60i which if I want to change my
plan I have to buy a new phone, so I am going to wait for the V600
with blue tooth technology to come in , with in a month or so, and go
from there. The only thing that keeps me there are the roll over
minutes, Verizon in this area, is OK, but I know too many people
that have them but complain equally about the service and the billing
    cycle.

Cingular has NOT bought ATT yet, they have only announced an agreement
to merge in the future. The deal isn't expected to close until the
end of the year. In the mean time, the two companies are still
independent, and the federal regulators require that they continue
operating separately until the deal is finished.

No, they BOUGHT AT&T WS outright. It is not a merger and it is (for the most
part) a done deal. It does take time to itegrate the two systems even though
they both use the same technologies.

Don't expect to see a Cingular sign on your favorite AT&T store just yet as
they have said that will probably take place the 4th quarter of 2004.

And just for the record, Cingular didn't buy anything. SBC and BellSouth
    did.

    No YOUR WRONG

    FACT JACK or eric

THey are dealing with all the at&t customers that are going to have to
switch over and the billing systems and a contract that says to at&t
customers either you except this new package or you move on.

AND THAT IS / ARE THE FACTS

Sorry, but you are absolutely wrong. You might want to re-read the
    official press release from 02/17/04
    (http://www.attwireless.com/press/rel...s/021704.jhtml).

It says "The acquisition, which is subject to the approvals of AT&T
Wireless shareholders and federal regulatory authorities, and to other
customary closing conditions, is expected to be completed as soon as
    late 2004."

In other words, until such approval is received, the acquisition is
not complete and both companies will (and must) continue to operate as
independently controlled, owned, and traded entities.

There are some indications that make it appear as though both
companies are already working towards unified operations. For
instance, AWS' new GSM Nation plans with no roaming charges are very
very similar to Cingular's, not only in coverage area, but also in the
number of anytime minutes per price point, etc. AWS also just
completed its overlay of GSM 850 nationwide, which Cingular is
    expected to complete by July.

Nonetheless, both companies are legally separate entities and must
operate as such. The FCC and DoJ also will have a word to say before
    the merger becomes final.

Just goes to show that you can't believe everything you read on
these Newsgroups. Even when they are stated so strongly as
"AND THAT IS / ARE THE FACTS"!
The AT&T stockholders don't meet until May 19th in Austin, TX.
