How is something that is stated in the specs a flaw?

Everything says it's 800MHZ CDMA and 1900MHZ CDMA.

No one is denying it does, or ever had analog capabilities, which was
    done to reduce size.

    How is that a flaw?

    A design flaw/omission.

If one is out away from big cities or interstates, they will have zero
coverage in an emergency as they can't roam on analog. If you were
unfortunate enough to find yoursleef in that situation, you'd too would
call it something far worse than a flaw.

You becoming an apologist for PalmOne now?

On the other hand, most GSM phones sold now have the same problem. No
    analog capability.

    OK I see your points

Im curious tho.....Ive never done any surfing with a PDA. How do you
surf via your Treo600? Does it do it via a cell phone connection? If
yes...... doesn't that costa LOT to surf via that method?

Im thinking that with the Ipaq 4355 which has Bluetooth as well as Wi
Fi built in..... I could then communicate at any hit spot such as
Starbucks and also "connect up" to a Bluetooth capable cell phone.

Im just not sold on having my cell phone "integrated" into my PDA.
But that's why I ask for opinions here as maybe my logic is wrong. Im
just concerned that by integrating the cell phone....I may be
"locking" myself into a certain carrier..... wont be able to go to a
pre-paid phone if I so wish..... blah blah.... basically just limit my
options for future carriers and such.

It's slow and painful, but its better than a regular cell phone.

Have you ever tried using a short board? It's kinda like that, but even
    tougher! 8-)

    Okay, terrible joke.

You just go to the browser and, just as with your PC, you can enter a
web address directly or select one from your stored bookmarks. You can
even tie bookmarks (or Palm applications or phone numbers or...) to a
"speed dial" keyboard key. On mine, if you're in the phone app, you
hold down "g" and you go directly to Google, for instance.

    > Does it do it via a cell phone connection? If

It costs $15/month on a Vision plan, for all you can eat. Your time on
data service does NOT cut into your allotted voice minutes.

    > Im thinking that with the Ipaq 4355 which has Bluetooth as well as Wi

Sure, that's cool -- if you happen to be in a Wifi hot spot. I can
generally fire up my browser whereever I am. If I'm in a store, and my
wife has spotted a "bargain", I can bring up Froogle.com and see whether
    it really IS a bargain.

Don't get me wrong, a wifi connection is often more than 10x the speed
of a Vision connection. (I generally get 80kbps connections on Vision,
while you can do up to 2-3Mbps on wifi.) The trouble is that wifi is
limited to hot spots, and you generally have to pay a lot more than
    $15/month for the privilege.

Wait for EV-DO or EV-DV to be deployed. Here in San Diego and in
Washington D.C., it's available from Verizon, I think.

    > Im just not sold on having my cell phone "integrated" into my PDA.

Boy, I sure am. The phone and speakerphone functionality work
beautifully. And you can generally use the PDA functionality (other
than Vision apps) while you're on the phone.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 600, and had some questions on the memory,
how much memory can be added via cards, and whether you may use any programs
like Quickoffice Pro, whether it's possible to create pdfs from those office
    files, etc.

    Specs are at
    http://www.handspring.com/products/c...00_specs.jhtml

It's got 24M RAM available. I don't know how big an SD card it can
    handle -- I haven't used anything bigger than 64M yet -- that's flash
memory, you understand -- good for storing applications and read-only
    documents.

As for your other questions, try asking at http://www.treocentral.com/
