They don't do that anymore...
I think the T68 was the last to have that feature.

No

That's how the screensaver works... live with it. Pointless, like you said

It will always go online. You can change the homepage, but that is probably
not what you wanted.

Nope...
(None of my SE phones did that, my old 868 kept blinking, they don't now...)

|

Nothing that I am aware of, but I may be wrong.
|
| 2. Is there a way to re-assign the default functions of the joystick on
| the standby screen? I often accidentally hit UP instead of pressing IN,

Only the left direction can be customized. It corresponds to the first
shortcut listed in the "My Shortcuts" menu.
|
| 3. The "Screensaver" on my phone comes on for about 2 seconds then goes
| to clock mode. Seems pointless. Is that how it's supposed to work?
Unfortunately, yes. If you press "#" and hole it from the standby screen
(main screen, not the clock screen), the screen saver will stay on for
longer, but just for that particular time.
|
| 4. Can you reassign the "Online" button on the right side of the phone?
Unfortunately again, no. It takes you to whatever your homepage is set for.
|
| 5. Is there any way to get a repeating (or visible) indication that you
| have voicemail or SMS?
Only the little envelope on the screen, nothing you can see without viewing
the main screen. I wish they would make the led blink or something.

Methinks that Sony Ericsson aren't quite clear on the meaning of the
term "screen saver" :-)
Thanks for the answers

Actually, screen savers are pointeless ever since the advent of non
interlaced monitors anyway. There is no actual "screnn saving" done any more
since the pixels aren't burned into the screen.

I've never understood the point of a screen saver. Do LCD pixels come
with a MTBF?

Screensavers have always served several purposes:
1. Preventing burn-in
2. Entertainment
3. Security
Most modern display devices (LCDs and newer CRTs) have made reason #1
moot, leaving #2 and #3.
The "screen saver" on my T637 seems to have missed all three points with
the way it was designed.
