    Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has an answer to this question: is CSD
access included with Cingular Media Basic package? Basically,
what I'm trying to do is to have the ability to access my own ISP
using SE T637 as a modem. I can successfully connect the phone
to the laptop either via IR or via Bluetooth. However, whenever
I try to dial ISP's phone number (or Cingular's GSM Data number
for that matter) I get immediately disconnected. According to
Cingular Customer Service (who didn't seem to know anything
about the specifics of Internet access) I do have Data Connect
option on my account. I have Media Basic add-on, that gives
1MB of GPRS access. GPRS does work from the phone, but I was
trying to use a slower 9600 service that would use my plan
minutes. Is anyone successfully doing this with Media Basic
package? If not, should I purchase another Wireless Internet
    package to gain this ability?

Thanks in advance for any help, and if I could provide any
additional information, please let me know.

    Regards,
    -M-

You don't need any special package to use CSD. Unlike GPRS that is
billed using data usage, CSD just uses you normal air time. As far as
getting disconnection, it could be any number of things. My first
thought would be to suspect the phone, however the phones I have used on
CSD don't have any options for CSD as dialer has all the settings. Do
you have the right drivers for that phone install?

Thanks for your reply! I think I have the right drivers - I can query
the modem in the phone using Windows modem diagnostics, and it appears
to be installed and configured correctly. What bothers me is that I
can't use CSD even for WAP connections, on the phone itself, without
PC in the picture. GPRS works fine, but when I select CSD it basically
gives me the same "Connection failed" message as when I try to use
    a laptop dialer.

Another question - if I use GPRS from Media Basic (or Works) package -
should I be able to change my WAP Gateway? I tried to switch to the
Sony Ericsson WAP Gateway, and it also refused to connect.

    Thanks,
    -M-

I don't have GPRS only CSD but here's an idea. Is it possible that
you're attempting to use CSD--while you have an active GPRS session? Is
there a way to force GPRS to logoff?

Hm... There's a indicator of the active GPRS session, and it's off. I
also tried to set the Data Comm. menu to "GSM only" (don't rememeber the
exact menu option, but it seemed correct) - without results. Can I ask
you how did you get CSD without GPRS? Did you just subscribe for the
$3.99 Wireless Internet (not WI Express) package? That may be all I
need - as long as I can use WAP and occasional wireless laptop
connection. And I don't really care for speed. Is GPRS available in
your area, and if so, did Cingular have any problems with you
subscribing to an older/less efficient for them data plan?

    Thanks,
