    Cingular Launches V600 Recall

Cingular, following the discontinuation of the V600, has decided to launch a
full product recall of the device. Cingular will send you a V400 and a box
to send your V600 in. When they have repaired your V600, they will send it
back to you with a box to send the V400 back.

Apparently, the problems were more widespread than the original firmware
problems seen. Cingular V600s will also have part of their antenna array
replaced. To start the recall process for your V600, call 1 (800) 201-6235

Cingular wants to make it clear that many, but not all V600s are under
recall (they will check your phone when you call), and that AT&T Wireless
    V600s are not affected currently.

    Re: V600 Recall

Quick note regarding this, I have a CINGULAR branded V600 on TMOBILE. So I
said what the heck I'll call and see what is up. I told them it was my Moms
v600 phone and I didn't know the acct number, but can you tell me if it is
included in the recall. I asked if I gave the phones IMEI number will they
check the list and see if it is one of the affected V600s. Well as soon as I
got "We do not do it that way, let me ask you some questions" And of course
I then got "Are you dropping calls ? Are you hearing static? The old
scientific screening process. He did say they were replacing the phone with
a upgraded model. So needless to say, if you are a CINGULAR customer, "Yes,
I drop calls all the time, Yes, I hear static alot etc" This phone costs too
much to have its need for replacement judged on the "Do you drop calls?"
    evaluation program.
My two cents, I could be wrong!

Also, I just sent mine into Motorola for a Will Not Power Up problem. I
speciafically stated that I had heard that Cingular has issues with the
V600, please give me the latest Flash/FLEX SW. Although I realize that the
issues are basically 850mhz problems, no one likes having a phone they know
"May just not be right" regardless what band I use. LOL What I got back was
the following should anyone be interested
    GS9U600CINO2NA160
    TRIPLETS_G0B.09.2FR_A16
    2D5C500

Also THIS JUST IN!! I just saw this on Howard Forums, so the plan may now be
    different for you CINGULAR users.
    The replacement V600s are in
Called Cingular yesterday to get the replacement V600 and was told by the
Cingular rep that the replacements are in. They will be sending the V600
without the battery or backplate and have to return the old V600 in 14 days.
No donor V400 necessary. So those not wanting the V400, give them a call. He
also said the Cingular stores don't have the replacement yet and would be
quicker to get one mailed to you. Hope the new V600 is better, cause these
drop calls are getting on my nerves! Good luck to all.

    Re: V600 Recall

Hey, PDA man. On the new flash for the V600, are you able to engage
the speakerphone before the call is answered? I notice that the new
V220's and V180's allow you to hit the spkrphone soft key as soon as
    you launch the call.

My V600 on the other, does not make that softkey option available
until the party answers. Just an annoyance if you're trying to see if
someone will answer that you've tried b4 and were getting a
    ring-no-answer on.

Also, have you noticed anything new on it?
