Mot V400 SLV GSM ?

I have the above listed phone and would like to know if I can download
pictures from my computer to the phone to use as wallpaper and also make my
own ringtones without paying $2 +/- each to dwonload them from cingular
right into my phone. Is thare a data cable that allows this?

Yes. I bought a data cable from ebay for $7.00 and mobile Phone Tools from
Motorola.

Can you transfer *any* data type with this software? In particular, I've
been teaching myself to write J2ME programs and want to transfer the .jar
and .jad files to my V400. I bought a Data Connect kit from Cingular, and
as far as I can tell it is strictly for using the phone as a modem and
there is no way to transfer files between the phone and a PC.
