I have been with Congular a while now & happy with the service - I had
a V400 & was happy with it, but wanted something a little more
    different.

I bought a unlocked V80 & love the phone, but didnt know it doesnt
    have the 850 frequency.

So, I am using it & it works fine, but it always roams onto the
Tmobile system. I guess that is not a problem, as roaming is free.

The only issue I have so far is setting up for email & downloading
    games & ringtones.

I live in Bergen County, NJ & work in Queens, NYC & do quite a bit of
    travel - mostly Florida.

    My questions:
    - Is it OK to use the V80 & always be on Tmobile, or will this be a
    problem?
    - Will I have more trouble when I travel, what if there is no Tmobile
service - will I have nothing?
    - When I check ebay & other sites for hot phones it seems most do not
have the 850 frequency - anyone recommend a HOT cool phone that I can
trade up to - that will have the 850?
    - When the merger gets finalized, will I be better off with the V80 or
    worse?

    Thanks

It's no problem as long as (1) your plan has free roaming and (2) Cingular
keeps the roaming agreement with T-Mobile in place.

That's possible, since there are places where only GSM 850 coverage will be
    available.

The soon-to-be-available Motorola V551, which adds EDGE (high speed data)
capability. If you don't need EDGE, check out the cool Motorola V3 Razor.

    The same.
