Bahamas - GSM coverage

I am going to Great Exuma in the Bahamas for vacation and I am looking for
information on getting cell phone coverage there. I have a Motorola V400
phone thru Cingular.

You might be toast. When I had Verizon at the time, my phone didn't work
there at all and friends that had Nextel and Sprint were also not working --
no real info on Cingular.

Everything runs through Bahama Telephone Co. (Batelco). You can rent a
phone while there but it's steep -- and you should set it up ahead of time.
