I have had 6340i phones for some time and always get to the point were
when I make a call it says that We do not recognize your number as an
authorized user...All that I have to do is turn the phone off and back
on, but when it is like that I can't recieve any calls and will only
get my messages when the phone is restarted. Does anyone know how to
fix this problem. I have this installed car kit for my phone so
getting a new phone isn't a very good option.

Re: 6340i problem
The Cingular staff can turn off the automatic seeking for the most
powerful signal. I was transferred from Cingular to AT&T without
knowing it had happened until I tried to use the phone to call out.
Turnig the phone off and then back on caused a log in on Cingular, and
things would work as befoe.
At times, I used the AT&T link. I had to dial the Area Code with the
number, then it would work.

For that reason (among others) you should put all the numbers in your
address book in with 1 + area code.

i had a similar problem with my 6340i. when i was roaming and got
that authorized user message, after-hours customer service had me
remove the battery while the phone was on and then try to make a call.
however, only one side of the phone would work at a given time. when
the gsm was working i could use the phone normally. when the phone
was locked to a tdma signal i couldnt receive or send calls. couldnt
get any voice mail notifications at all. when customer service fixed
the tdma problem, the gsm side couldnt send or receive calls. i even
sent emails to clay owen, which was fwd to my local cingular store.
the local guys called me to try to fix the issue by swapping sim cards
and a software update. still it wouldnt work. after several days and
many hours with customer service, the problem was never fixed and i
was offered no explanation. i now use a nokia 3560 tdma phone.
however i like the gait signal capabilities (when it works) and would
like to use it. if anyone knows what would cause this problem please
post it and let me know ... thanks in advance.

My guess is that your GAIT account and/or SIM were never provisioned properly.
