Cingular was busy with other priorities.

Laying off 7,000 employees, starting Jan 1.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Yoy failed to say the 7,000 is to be over an 18 month period.

It said "cut" (not "layoff") -- many cuts will probably come from attrition.
    And you left out:

"Some job cuts will be in administrative functions, with customer facing
    functions largely untouched," said Siegel.

So good (not bad) for Cingular. That's a big part of what the merger is all
    about -- becoming more efficient.

In other words, just more of your usual FUD. Give it a rest and get a life.

You failed to say that analysts expect many more layoffs to be announced
    over the next 18 months.

You failed to say that these cuts were anticipated long before the merger
    was complete. Imagine that.

Funny- I don't see anything in the story to indicate that this delayed
anything. Care to point out where it says that?

Good, but actually cuts, which can be attrition, early retirement, etc.

I imagine a significant component of these 'outs' are due to job
duplication between Orange and Blue, which will take a year to settle
out like it did when Dingular was born.
