I purchased a MPx220 a few days ago at Best Buy. The Cingular store didn't
have them and the rep said Best Buy was given the exclusive rights to sell
the phone for a few weeks.

Well anyway, I used some programs to develop a ring tone that would work on
the new phone. Microsoft ActiveSync was then used to connect the phone to
the PC and the "Explore" option found the standard ring tones (",mid" files)
in the Windows directory. I then copied the new ringtone to the phone's
Windows directory and was able to select the new ringtone using the
<Settings> and <Sounds> options on the phone. The new ringtone played
perfectly.

But when the phone was turned off and then on again, the new ringtone
disappeared from the Windows directory. When Exlporing the phone's Windows
directory, the ".mid" files are all "Read Only" but the new ringtone has a
property of "Archive." The <Properties> file option has the file status
checkboxes grayed out so you can't change the status of a file.

I'm new to Windows Mobile 2003 so was hoping someone could tell me how to
change the ringtone file status so it won't be deleted when the phone is
turned on.

Thanks for any help.

Paul
