I have the Media Works unlimited GPRS Internet package from Cingular
which I use in conjunction with my MPx220 phone. It works great on my
phone to sync with my Exchange server, and I even use it tethered to
my laptop using Bluetooth. However, when I try to connect to a PPTP
VPN from my laptop using the tethered GPRS connection, it fails. I
have found some information stating that Media Works uses NAT which
can cause PPTP VPN to not work. I have experienced this problem
previously with DirecWay's Satellite Internet service which uses NAT.
I have also read that there is a Cingular data package that does not
use NAT and, hence, will allow VPN. Does anyone have any more
    information on this?

    Thanks,
    Yogi

Re: Cingular Media Works and VPN

I use the Wireless Internet for 3.99 a month to connect to my company's VPN.
It's is painfully slow over CSD/GSM at 9600 bps, but at least it works. I
only use a telnet terminal on the VPN anyways, so it's fast enough to work.

The option with a faster transfer speed would probably be Cingular's
internet for laptop service at $80/month
