I have Verizon. I have a better service area and less problems than I did
with ATT (now Cingular) and Nextel.

I reported a defective Cingular cellphone, last year and still waiting for
Cingular to ship me a replacement cellphone, this despite that I pay
$4.00 a month for insurance offered by Cingular.

Cingular doesn't allow their authorized dealers to replace their defective
    cellphones,
they require that their customers wait for one to arrive in the mail and
    then ship the
    defective cellphone back to them.

SPRINT replaces defective phones on the spot, at any of their authorized
    dealers.

I went with Verizon, because according to Consumer Reports magazine,
it has the least problems, Verizon was the only cellphone working through
    the blackout.

I still have 16 weeks left on my Cingular contract, but I got the Verizon
    anyway.

Be careful the door doesn't smack you in the tush on the way out. ;-)

Cingular actually ships replacement phones in advance.

    Then switch to Sprint.

There are myriad reports of Sprint telling customers "Sorry that's not
covered under warranty", in which case they won't replace it.

    Google alt.cellular.sprintpcs

It's just that attitude that turns some folks off.

    Exactly.

I bought Cingular's $49.99 plan, my monthly bill came to $80.00.
When I called up to ask why, $30.00 was being tacked on to
the original 49.99 plan, plus $4.00 for insurance, Cingular told me
that was for taxes and fees.

They are liars, they do not tell you the actual monthly cost of the plan,
despite the fact that I asked them.

Their phone, Motorola V400 GSM, sold to me by the Cingular
Authorized Dealer, never worked properly, needed to be charged on a daily
    basis.

So far, I'm happy with Verizon, only had it for 24 hours.

Not to me, I'm still waiting for the Cingular replace phone.

    >SPRINT replaces defective phones on the spot, at any of their authorized

The problem with switching is the fee required to terminate a cellphone
    contract.
Even though I enrolled with Verizon, despite still being under contract for
    another 16 weeks with Cingular.

    http://www.consumersearch.com/www/el...l_phone_plans/

Of the competing GSM service providers,
Cingular/AT&T get better scores for overall
service and network coverage, but still fall short of Verizon.

You did something wrong. The last time I had a warranty replacement I got the
new phone the following day and returned the old one with the included return
    label the day after that.

OK- shall I pick any company in the Forutne 500 and clog the group with just
as many postings? Don't try to portray this as something unique to
    Cingular- its not.

As I said in an earlier post- over 75% of these 'complaints' end with no
action taken by the customer. Just because you feel you've been wronged
does not mean that it happened.

Ooo.......ooo.......let's play the "post a link" game.

I thought you were the defender of the oppressed as you presented yourself
    in an earlier post?

    http://www.angelfire.com/de/Cassandr.../tintown2.html This would
appear to prove otherwise. You are more of a sell out than those you try to
    belittle.

    http://bryanadrian_writer.tripod.com/biography.html As would this.

    http://www.geocities.com/hollywoodtattler/tintown.html More commercialism?

In fact, I find nothing other than your recent whining about Cingular that
backs your claim as writer for the oppressed. In fact, everything else I
    found was very self-centered.

You have been outed- please go find another rock to crawl under.

But I'll take my integrity and credibility over your self-serving promotion
any day. You have been proven to be not only a liar, but also the perfect
example of self-centered commercialism you tried to belittle others with.
And you must not be that good at what you do, if you are struggling
financially at this time. No amount of publicity will overcome mediocrity.
