Does anyone that has the MPX 220 phone with Cingular have the ability to
update the Date / Time thru the network?
My Date / Time does not get updated when turned on. I can not find an
option anywhere. With my old phone with t-mobile, I was prompted to update
the Date/Time when the phone was turned on. Cingular Customer support says
this option is built-in, but I sure don't see it working. I travel often,
and would benefit from this option.
    Thanks for any feedback.

Set the clock so it is more than 15 minutes off, then power off and on.

Re: Moto Mpx 220 Clock update

Thanks Alan for your idea. I have been changing the Hours by +- 1, then
Power off/on. However, it never worked. I tried your idea, but changed the
time by 10 hours. I just powered it on, and still no luck.
Perhaps it's my local area. When I was with T-Mobile, my clock would always
update when in Los Angeles, but would not update here on the east coast.
Sometime about 1 year ago, this feature was added to my area. Maybe it will
work in certain areas. I was hoping this worked in all areas.

Do you actually have the Mpx 220, and the clock updates for you ok? Thanks
    for any feedback.

    dana,

    try this
    menu
    settings
    initial setup
    time and date
    autoupdate ON

if auto update is OFF you will see options to set the date and time. if it
is ON then the network will set the time for you.

Thanks Jim for the feedback. I don't seem to have those options in my Mpx
    220. The Manufacturer's software version is: 1.30.0.0
    I don't have Menu | Settings | Initial Setup.
Do you have this on the Mpx 220?

    What I have is:
Start | Settings | More...(next page) | Date and Time

Here, there is no option for Auto-Update. I had this on my old Nokia phone,
so that is what I have been looking for.
I've looked everywhere. And of course, Customer Service has no clue.

I bought my Mpx 220 from Cingular.
    Thanks for any feedback. :>)

the mpx220 does not do auto time update..

the guy in the last post got confused and that is for a v600..
the tmobile v600 has auto time update, but the cingular v600 did not.
i dont think any phones update time with cingular.
i sell cingular and tmobile and every time i activate a cingular phone the
    time is wrong.

My v551 with Cingular does auto update, even my old v60ti with Cingular had
auto update. They even update correctly.

Re: Moto Mpx 220 Clock update

The only "automatic" way for the MPX220 to update the date/time is to use
Microsoft ActiveSync. When you sync your phone with your PC, your phone
will adjust the its date/time based on your PC settings (with appropriate
offsets if the time zones are different). Check out the
microsoft.public.smartphone newsgroup for more information on working with
    the MPX220.

Re: Moto Mpx 220 Clock update

Thanks everyone. I'll check out "Fizz Traveller".
ActiveSync does update the date/time for me. I really like "activesync"
with the 220. It works really well.
I was hoping this "smart phone" would automatically update the clock off the
    airwaves while traveling just like
my very old "dumb phone" did. :>0 <vbg>
Oh well. I guess it can't.

As a side note, if you've just gotten this phone, make sure you download the
latest version of ActiveSync. Most likely, the version on your Cd is out of
    date.
