Has anyone been able to by a Cingular Treo 650 from Cingular, or from
anyone else? I would like to do so, also.

I bought mine on 02/17/2005 from a company owed Cingular store front in
    the NW 'burbs of Chicago.

    Great phone.

    Re: Treo 650

I bought the phone about two weeks ago. I originally got the "G" sim
card (even though I told them at the store that I needed the Axalto of
"A" sim card). I did have a few problems with the G sim card (phone
mail mostly). I got the A sim card a week later and the problems are
    gone.

It is a great phone. The reception is better than my old Motorola
V505. I love the contacts and scheduling. The camera is also pretty
    good for a cell phone.

Drawbacks are that I had to migrate to a Cingular contract (from
AT&T). More expensive for the data plan. I charge it up every night
(probably could go two days before charging but thats it).

Great phone and love it a lot. Will keep it until the put out an
    upgrade on this one.

I noticed that article about the 64K Genesis card. How did the problem
manifest itself with your Treo? I've had several instances where the
phone has temporarily "lost" the Voice mail number (it'll come up with
random junk or a load of zeros.) Removing/replacing the SIM and/or soft
reset seems to rectify it but still it's a PITA.

OTOH, I don't know if that particular quirk is due to the fact that I
installed the BT hack to bring up the DUN feature. Got the BT for my
laptop and as soon as I find the time, going to start digging for the
way to tether the two so I can use the internet via the lappy top. I
did order the unlimited pack at $24.95 and so far, so good.

When I would turn off my Treo 650 and then turn it back on, it was
about a 50-50 chance that the correct voice mail number would be
there. I would also get all zeros and a couple of times got the
    random number.

Since I got the new sim card, the problem has disappeared. When I
called my local store they said that the manager had sim cards
"specifically for the treo" in his desk. I don;t think that the floor
employees knew much about the problem.

Called Cingular this afternoon to check on this and move all five phones
to the new GSM Nation 1100 minute package.

As soon as I mentioned the SIM problem the rep said to bring it in and
we'll set you up with a new card right away. They gave me a 32K card
    for the fix.

My wife's 650 worked great for about three weeks, then went into the
reboot mode. A hard reset would clear up the problem until I restored
    her data from the PC.

She went to the local company store and got an "A" SIM, no questions
    asked. No problems since then..
