    I have a 6340i with Cingular, and it's about dead. (Nation/Family talk
2000, with 2 additional lines. the 2 other phones are 3595's) I am
wanting to get another phone and was wondering if I switch to a GSM, can I
use the sim from my 6340? My wife has a 3595, and when I put her card, in
the 6340, some of my phonebook is listed, and all of her's. On her phone
with MY card, it shows ALL of MY phonebook. What gives?
    Thanks, Mike

Yes. You can move that SIM to any phone that is not "SIM locked" to a
specific provider. If the new phone is from Cingular the SIM should
work without issue. One of the best features of GSM is the SIM card,
and the ability to change phones as your mood suits you.

The SIM has a phone book, and most phones have a phone book. Every
phone handles the mix differently; some use only the SIM or only the
phone, others combine them. It sounds like your wife's phone book is
all on the SIM, as is yours. Some of your contacts must also be in
memory, and the 6340 is showing the combined list of SIM and memory
    contacts.

You can copy your SIM to the phone memory and then when you put her SIM in,
change the phone book to read only the phone memory and not look at the SIM.
Be sure to copy your phone memory to your SIM.
