I know more than a few people have commented on this. Has anyone out
there had any luck in configuring their SE phone specifically the S710
for gmail pop? As most of us are seeing once you do get around the key
input issue (holding down the 1 KEY MAKES THE @ SIGN/ 0 makes the
..(period)) we have problems with actual login.

    Laundry List:

    1) When selecting Send/Receive the phone reseponds with "server not
    found"

typically the settings below get you past this

    Connect using: Media Net(Cingular)
    Incoming server: pop.gmail.com
    Incoming port: 995
    Encryption:
    Incoming - TLS/SSL, domain: pop.gmail.com
    Outgoing - TLS/SSL, domain: smtp.gmail.com
    Mailbox: [email protected]
    Password: XXXXX
    Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
    Outgoing port: 587
    Email address: [email protected]
    other settings don't matter.

    2) Selecting Send/Receive results in:

    a) Finding Server
    b) Receiving emails
    c) Phone Freezes

The only way to fix this for me was to just reboot the phone.

    3) Just attempting to send e-mails

    a) Finding Server
    b) Server Found
    c) Sending email
    d) just hangs on sending E-mail or send fails

    BigEagleTalon has already stated
"Apparently, at least according to Cingular Wireless, "there is no
agreement" between Gmail and Cingular Wireless to setup Gmail POP3
email access. I got this information from the tier-2 tech support at
    Cingular Wireless."

So if anyone out there has made it work please share with us your
    method. Thanks in advance.

It works fine from my Nokia 6620 on Cingular, so the problem does not
    appear to be with Cingular.

I'm in the same boat.. just tried to configure.. locks the phone.. too
bad.. seems Gmail would be a great setup for a phone.. being able to
leave messages in you pop3 account for viewing / manageing via the web
when your back on a full size puter.. oh well.. Would love some kinda
    fix for this.
