Does Cingular still provide the CSD option? I was wanting to use some of my
unlimited weekend minutes to dialup my ISP and surf slowly with my laptop.
STill possible?

Re: Cingular CSD
Last I knew they charge $4/mo. for CSD. It is slow and policy doesn't
let you use "free" minutes. (enforcement appears to be lax).
Also I've heard they don't allow CSD on roaming partner's towers.
See HowardForums.com for more info or call Cingular.

"Free" as in free nights and weekends? First I've heard of that
restriction. I've never had a problem using CSD at those times--comes
out of whatever pool a voice call at that time would come out of.

Re: Cingular CSD
Do I need to call Cingular and have CDS activated? Will they do that or
require some additonal package?

Someone more recent than me will have to answer that. I've got a GAIT
account and CSD was included in that without having to request it. On
TDMA you had to have a wap data package apx $5/mo. I think people have
reported lately that they couldn't get it at all on pure GSM accounts
but that may be a case of the CSR's just not knowing about anything but
the GPRS data packages.

Re: Cingular CSD
I activated CSD on my phone myself from using the account log-in screen from
www.cingular.com
After logging on to your account,
You click on My Features on the left
Then click Available features
Then you select to add "Wireless Internet" to your account for $3.99 a
month.
Note that it is "Wireless Internet" and not "Wireless Internet Express"
I have called up the isp and have never incurred additional charges beyond
the 3.99 a month.
